Algea ruining your pond?

May 22, 2024 By Tin Shark Fountainworks

Algea and floating weeds turning your pond into a soupy mess? While there is no single magic bullet in cleaning up a mucky pond, a fountain can be a key ingredient in getting the pond you always wanted. In the example below, our pond fountain helps break up the surface of the water, not allowing the algea to clump into mats. Oxygen that is depleted by the Algea and weeds is also added back into the water. It then helps push all the remaining algea towards the perimeter of the pond, making it easy to treeat by mechanical removal or chemical spray. In this case after the fountain was running for a day, the algea that was pushed to the perimeter of the pond was sprayed with copper sulfate. A pond dye was added to help block sunlight from reaching the bottom of the pond contributing to further algea blooms.
